Libraries are often tasked with supporting researchers as they navigate the many tools necessary to find, produce, document, and share their work. OSF Institutions will help expose research contributions across the lifecycle, and help you prioritize resources to accelerate open science through one platform.
OSF Institutions membership will enable authentication into OSF via the institution’s Identity Provider so that researchers need to remember fewer passwords to use all of their tools. Once authenticated using institutional credentials, researchers can affiliate all of their OSF projects with the institution, turned on by default. These projects will aggregate on a public, branded landing page that makes sharing the institution’s contributions to open science simple.
The COS vision goes beyond building technical infrastructure, emphasizing community infrastructure to drive culture change in research. OSF Institutions is a network of partners in research that share opportunities to communicate the exciting work of their researchers and the innovative ways that libraries and administrators support them. Members will receive newsletters and webinars designed specifically for them and featuring exciting use cases from the community, and can partner with COS and global outreach opportunities.
Increasing rigor often requires that researchers and labs implement new practices, learn new tools, or master unfamiliar statistical techniques. COS has developed a training curriculum curated from use cases within the community of open researchers that we engage. In person or remote, COS staff can demonstrate OSF products and provide hands on activities. In addition to demonstrating the utility of the OSF itself, we will work with your institution to determine training or outreach opportunities that are most aligned with your needs. OSF Institutions members receive free or discounted training sessions.
OSF has taken steps to maintain compliance with GDPR through updated Terms of Use and Privacy Policies, providing four regional and encrypted storage options hosted by the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and the use of Central Authentication Service (CAS) software for secure user access to all OSF applications.
